Her words still leave me misty. #lisalivewell #mayaangelou I am a disco ball that enjoys the light of other disco balls. Never feel like you need to “tone it down” for my benefit. My girls shined bright this weekend at my bachelorette party and my cup is full because of them! #lisalivewell #lisasbachabroad One of my favorite events is #BrunchFest Atlanta. Happy, healthy and loved. #saturday #MagicMonday -
Dorothy Height focused primarily on improving the circumstances of and opportunities for black women. In 1963, Height was one of the organizers of the famed March on Washington but not invited to speak. Height later wrote that the March on Washington event had been an eye-opening experience for her. Her male counterparts "were happy to include women in the human family, but there was no question as to who headed the household."

A quote to carry you forward - “A Negro woman has the same kind of problems as other women, but she can't take the same things for granted.”

Septima Poinsette Clark is a mother of the Civil Rights Movement. She branched out into social action with the NAACP while working as a teacher. As part of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, she set up citizenship schools that helped many African Americans register to vote.
